A little king

I never would have known until this year that my little one was a shy little one.  He is silly, loud and crazy at home and around his friends.  But get him in front of a big group of mommies and daddies and he becomes one shy little guy.

Today was my little one's class Christmas program at preschool.  They practice and practice their nativity scene and today was the big day.  All the sweet kiddos in front of the classroom dressed up for their parents while their teacher reads the Christmas story, they were of course adorable.  And my baby was so shy he just hid behind his best buddy Mac for protection and stared at the back wall.

This year my sweet Jacob was one of the three kings, Mac was another and the third was absent because he was sick.

Aren't they adorable.
My baby is the dark-haired king trying his best to hide from all of the photo taking.

I know I have said it before but I love preschool.
Not just preschool, this preschool.
I love that the teachers here take so much time with the children to show them what this nativity scene means.
They are learning such important things at this place, I really do love it.

Down

I have missed an entire week of Christmas prep thanks to being very sick.

I am feeling a bit better today after a weekend of an ER trip and an oh so much fun trip to an ENT yesterday. Thank goodness as I have 2 kiddos' Christmas parties to attend this week at their schools.

I am so thankful for the internet right now!
I really hope I can pull it off this year.

Nativity Parade

Char at Crap I've Made is hosting a Nativity Parade
~ Thank you Char ~
and we have several in our house.

This nativity scene is on a plate I made 2 years ago, our church has a wonderful pottery studio in its basement and I have made several plates and ornaments there.

This on will always be my favorite.
This was made by my sweet Joey 2 years ago when he was 3 years old.
He made it at preschool.  I love preschool.

And of course we have a family favorite, the Little People Nativity set.
My boys set this one up and I love how they angled all of the Little People towards the manger scene.

Now if only my babies would get better, we are off to the pediatrician for Big J, he is sick this week.
The little one was sick last week.
I think I am about 10% done with Christmas.
ACK!

Collegiate Scarf

The blogworld is filled with wonderful Christmas crafts right now,
but we are going to take a quick break from all of that
for some college football!

My UCF Knights are rockin' it right now!
Not only in football but college basketball too.
UCF beat the Gators last night in basketball.

The husband and I are heading to the Conference USA champtionship game this weekend at UCF.
It might be just a little bit chilly for tailgating in the morning so what better way to keep warm than a cozy fleece scarf, in black and gold of course!

Want to make one for your favorite team?
Here you go.
A super simple and quick project.

Buy your school colors in fleece at the fabric store.
I bought a half yard of black and a half yard of "gold" fleece and that has been plenty to make 3 scarves.

Cut the fabric into rectangles measuring 8" x 3"

Then take one of each of the fleece rectangle over to the sewing machine.
Choose the zig-zag stitch on your machine and use a pretty big zig-zag.

(my zig-zag stitch is right under # 3)

Then start stitching the rectangles together right where the meet up.

Keep going until you have the right length for yourself.
Mine is 11 black rectangles and 10 gold rectangles.

Keep alternating the colors and it will start to look like this.

Then you can customize it a little bit more by narrowing down the width a little bit.
I decide that I wanted mine to be 6 inches wide so I used my rotary cutter to narrow it a bit.

My ruler just happens to be 6"wide so this was pretty easy.
Eventually you will have a nice little pile of scraps.
Do want you want to with these.

And that is it.
Now you have a nice and cozy scarf for your football championship and bowl games coming up.

Happy almost weekend and
GOOOOOO KNIGHTS!

Hello Christmas!

First let me give some credit to Thanksgiving.
It is right smack in between Halloween and Christmas and can get passed over.

I brought out the good china and crystal for it once a year visit.

The kiddos' Thanksgiving artwork was proudly displayed on the wall.

It was a nice day filled with family, yummy food and cousins playing together...

and then little one got sick
again, and again, and again.

He is feeling a bit better now but hanging at home with mommy on this Cyber Monday.
(and no I did not go to any Black Friday sales,
my three year old was throwing up on me instead.
It was great, maybe we can do it again next year!)
So let's back up a couple of days to the day before Turkey Day.
I had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC idea to take my sons to the Millennia Mall to see Santa.
We got there right when the mall opened at 10 am.
I thought for sure there would be NO ONE in line,
yeah, no I was wrong.

$40 bucks, a rude little elf telling me "no personal photos ma'am" (after trying to take a crappy iPhone picture of my kids with Santa...and I don't like this "ma'am" stuff) and an hour and a half later we left with these sweet Santa shots

These little guys are SOOO into Christmas this year.
So many questions, I am trying to keep up.

Now we are decorating away for Christmas

The tree is up and we had our first fire (in the fireplace) while watching
The Polar Express.

A quilted Christmas table runner

THE BEST Candle from Anthro, it smells exactly like a Christmas Tree.

We are ready for Santa,
is your Santa list ready??

Now I am going to wait until someone alerts me that I have won a Silhouette from one of the MANY giveaways I entered this past weekend.
OK, I am going to keep dreaming because I have never won anything in a blog giveaway.
But you never know.

Happy Cyber Monday!

Our New Advent Calendar

Since my lovely, sweet, well-behaved dog ATE
my pottery barn advent calendar last year, I had to make a new one this year.
I do love this one though.
It was pretty simple to make, just 25 little pockets hot glued to a large canvas ready
for candies and chocolates.

And I made most of it from my scraps that I REALLY NEED TO USE!

The biggest purchase was the large canvas
and a package of big buttons and ric rac.

Oh and the pack of 12 snowmen for $1 at Joanns.

Some of my favorite pockets.
I had to add some mouse ears since we do live in the land of THE mouse.

The little one likes it ~ his favorite is the Santa pocket.

Making

**Look for me tomorrow at Under the Table and Dreaming,
