Turning 5

My baby turned 5 over the weekend and we had a
Pirate Pizza Pool Party!

When I first started planning this party I searched on Etsy for some invitations and found this wonderful etsy.com shop

Please go visit and take a look at all of the wonderful things there, including these...

I llllllooooooovvvvvveeeeedddddd this customized invitation!
Thank you so much Papercandee Shoppe!

Cupcake toppers that I used everywhere

including cupcakes

Our pirate party house.

Here he is, my now 5 year old.
We have come to an agreement, no more getting older.
He promised me this today.
5 was the limit.
I am holding him to it.

He really enjoyed his pool party with his sweet little friends.
They stopped moving for one second to give me this picture, aren't they sweet!

And then they were off again.

The proud mommy and daddy!

This is a tradition I stole from my Uncle Duncan, I was told that he would take a picture of his girls (my cousins) in their bed right when they wake up on their birthdays.

This is Joey's the morning he turned 5.

And in case you are wondering, these are his other birthday morning pictures.

We decided on a fun lunch at the T-Rex cafe at Downtown Disney the day of his birthday.

The chocolate extinction dessert and a song from the T-Rex cafe staff.
A big weekend for a big boy.

Happy birthday my love!

Now onto convincing this Lil one to stop growing up.
Maybe I will let him get to 5 also, but 4 just may be my limit.

One Year Later...

I started my sweet little blog one year ago today.
                                              Happy Anniversary wRIte iT DOwN!

I started writing this blog to keep track of the little things that I know I will forget about raising my boys. But it turned into so much more.

I found so many really good blogs out there and they all inspired me this past year to do more things that I thought I could not do .

I have learned so much about photography this past year.  I have never seen so many beautiful pictures out there and so many generous people willing to share how to take those beautiful photos. I want to learn more, much more.  I am taking photography class at a local store hoping to get better at this.

I learned to make things, lots of things all from sweet little tutorials posted all throughout blogland.

I hosted the 12 Days of Handmade Christmas Ornaments, so fun to have so many wonderful bloggers take the time to create new ornaments for this.  Thank you !!!!

And my favorite thing I have learned from my blog

SEWING!

I learned to sew!

I can actually make things, wonderful things with my sewing machine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to my husband for buying my sewing machine last year.  I love it!

I think my favorite thing to make it quilts.

Here is my first quilt.

My sweet little first quilt, it is coming apart and had a big sharpie marker stain on the border from someone but I still love it.  Made it from start to finish.

And of course my family.

We had so much happening this year.

One big boy finished preschool and one little boy started preschool.
We took our first plane ride as a family and the boys saw snow for the first time (my second time).

Big J can swim and Lil J still working on it.

Lil J is potty trained.  YEah!!!  No more diapers!!

And we got rid of the stinky binky!

We brought our Sadie the Lady home

We sold our first home and moved, I miss our home.

The husband got a big promotion - so proud but he works too hard.

So many good things going on this year.

Thank you for reading my blog, I cannot believe 213 people actually follow my blog - WOW.  Thank you!!!!

Happy Daddy's Day

I have crawled out from the rock and discovered the ENTIRE Twilight series.
I do not know where I have been but I thought I would read the first book, you know to see what it is all about - I heard it was good.

I was hooked.

I downloaded the books to my iPhone and I think I stared at my phone for a whole week.  Of course I went right into the next book, then the next, then the next.  And I watched the first 2 movies and I am impatiently waiting for the 3rd to come on on the 30th.

Waiting and waiting and waiting...

But today is Father's Day.

Yeah for daddys!

Here is the daddy in our house.

Sometimes he's a coach...

Sometimes a lifeguard

Sometimes a really good place to sleep...

And of course the best swimming buddy.

Happy Father's Day Mr. Heaney.
We love you!

What's Goin' On

Summer is in full swing around here.  Lots going on - lots of scrambling to keep the little ones entertained.  This is no easy task.

I created this summer fun jar - thanks to a wonderful idea from Susan, thanks Susan!!

Its filled with fun little activities for the kiddos to do throughout the summer.  They have already drawn "go feed the horses carrots", "play a board game", "read a book" , and today's choice, "go swimming".

The boys seem to love it and draw a new activity each morning - very exciting!

And I don't think I have introduced my sweet Mother's Day gift.
This is Lulu.

See, her name right there!  This was CRAZY because I told the husband that I wanted a pink bike and I would name it LuLu, to go with Lola (my car) and he brought this little baby home for mommie's day.  Then he showed me the name and I thought he has it put on there.  No it was like that when he bought it.  Must have been fate.

But LuLu does need a basket as I learned today carrying my market tote on the handle bar while riding my bike with the kids to the neighbors house does not work too well.

Maybe I will try to make one from this post at Noodlehead.

This is my market tote from my mom - thanks mom!
It goes everywhere with me!

This is my hexi quilt progress, its kind of stalled out for now.  It will be a work in progress for now and I am onto this one...

I have one row complete of this pinwheel quilt.  I love it!

And I am participating in not 1 but 2 I-spy fabric swaps.
I can't wait to see what is on its way to me.
I plan to make some little kiddos some I-spy quilts.

So that's what's goin' on around here.

I'm looking for fun (cheap) summer fun ideas if anyone wants to share ~ I would love to hear them!
