Our Halloween kept going and going and going

I feel like we have been celebrating Halloween since Thursday.
We have had a great several days of Halloween but I think I am ready to move right along into November.

Cupcake making on Wednesday,
these were supposed to last us through at least a couple of days...

Until our Sadie (1 year old yellow lab) got into the sealed container on top of the counter and decided to eat about 20 cupcakes when we were at soccer practice.

She is is a very bad, pain in the booty, mischievous dog.
At least my boys got to enjoy making the cupcakes (and the batter)!

Thursday night we headed off to the MOUSE for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween.
This worked out great, it was really close to Halloween and the boys each had NO SCHOOL the following day.  So getting home at 1:30 am was no biggie.
Yeah right, we (meaning me and the husband) were exhausted.
The boys were up and ready for the day at 7:30.

Seriously guys, sleep in.
It's a good thing.

Big J has been into some really interesting faces lately.

Big J finally got to meet Buzz Lightyear, he was thrilled!

I am in love with Little J's face in this one.
The best, he is such a little brother!

If you ever get the opportunity to go to the Not So Scary Halloween party it is worth it.
The parade, the decorations, the characters, the candy, the fireworks!
All wonderful.

HALLOWEEN NIGHT

My guys were dressed up and ready to go tonight.
Big J was Buzz Lightyear (see strange faces ~ he thinks he is BUZZ)
and Little J was a police officer

They had a blast tonight.
and loaded up on the candy
Good luck tomorrow teachers!!

Happy Halloween to all and to all a spooky night!

Blogger's Quilt Festival ~ Fall 2010

Amy's Creative Side - Blogger's Quilt Festival

I really was hoping to have more progress on my apple quilt so that I could share it for the Blogger's Quilt Festival,
but I only have 5 blocks completed ~ so there is not much to share.
Oh well, I guess it will have to wait until spring.

But I am so happy to share my most recent quilt made from the
Random Reflections pattern found over at Moda Bake Shop.
This pattern was created by KarrieLyne at Freckled Whimsy.

My version of the random reflections quilt a bit smaller
and I added a pieced border.
I used  Sweetwater's PURE fabric. I absolutely love all of the Sweetwater fabrics and I have made my boys their cozy quilts from the Make Life and Authentic lines.

I have been quilting now for about a year and this is my largest quilt so far.
I would say it is an oversized lap quilt.
This has been our cozy fall quilt for the past month or so.
We have been snuggled under it for naps or
an afternoon of college football watching at home.

The backing fabric is a find from the Hobby Lobby.
The colors matched perfectly and I created a pieced strip down the back for extra width.

A close-up of the machine quilting, just simple loops all over the quilts.
My favorite method.

The binding is a dark chocolate solid brown also found at Hobby Lobby.

A BIG thank you to Amy at Amy's Creative Side for continuing to put
the Blogger's Quilt Festival together!

Seriously Florida, where is Fall?

Since tomorrow is Silly Day at my little one's preschool,

and since it is 11:48 pm and I am still no where near going to bed,

and since the temps in lovely FLA are reaching the 90's...

I had to cut off the sleeves of my little one's Halloween T-shirt so that he could wear it to school ~ and not have a heat stroke on the playground.

SERIOUSLY!
(sorry for the crapified photo - it is late and I just used my iPhone)

See the poor little sleeves.
And the striped sleeves were my favorite part of this shirt.

UGHHHHHH FLORIDA, sometimes I really do not like you.

Ok back to silent auction work.

A Big Milestone

We had a big milestone last week.
The husband took the training wheels off of Big J's bike last weekend and worked with him riding his bike.
When we got home from school last Monday he wanted to try again.
He took off and made it past 3 houses, slowed down and gently got off of his bike, all on his own.
He did it.
No more training wheels!

I Don't Like Candy Corn

CAnDy cORn
just screams Halloween to me.

This is our sweet little candy corn center piece,
once again I have been playing with yarn.  This was a cute and easy project.
I just wrapped bright yellow, orange and white yarn around a styrofoam cone shape.

I made the Halloween Table Runner a couple of weeks ago.

I placed a yarn wrapped styrofoam candy corn in our hurricane lantern
and then filled it with real candy corns.
Then I added a couple more on the outside,
I thought they would fit in the lantern but they didn't.
So they are just hanging out.

There you go, all done!

Anyone craving candy corn now?
I really love Halloween, but I don't like candy corn.
PS - I bet you are singing the Moose A. Moose Halloween Song ~ HAHAHA
